A warm Welcome to the Nordic Permaculture Festival 6 – 9 Aug 2026
As always the Nordic Permaculture Festival will be full of activity and permaculturists from all over. The site is in the very south of Sweden, at Holma Folkhighschool in the middle of Skåne. A particularly good site for everything that has to do with permaculture. The venue will offer some indoor classrooms but the activities will mainly take part outdoors. It also offers place for tents. The program is still to be finalized and will be published on our homepage. The festival will, to some extent, be co-created with you as a participant so please let us know if you want to give a workshop or share any other particular skills.
We will welcome the maximum of 250 people/ day.
The vegetarian food served during the festival is prepared by Beesham the Baker More about Beesham
The Festival is created in co-operation between Permaculture Sweden and Permaculture in Skåne. Feel free to contact us at styrelsen@permakulturiskane.se with questions about accomodation, travel tips etc or festival@permakultur.se with questions regarding payment etc.
The organisers of the festival is also working together with the Nordic Permaculture Associations, Holma Folkhögskola, Demos, EU and the Leader project “Mellan raderna” and Studiefrämjandet.

The Ethics of Permaculture
This is how we want to use the ethics during the festival:
Earth Care
The location is Holma Folkhögskola and we are very thankful for the opportunity of hosting the festival here. This comes with a humble respect for the land and the place. We also have the ambition to leave the place with only our footprints and great memories. This is how we work with the Earth Care ethic:
- Bring your own tools for eating (plate, fork, spoon, knife and cup) to save water
- Bring your bike (use the train and come by bike)
- Leave the place better then when you arrive
- Limit of guests to 250 people
People Care
A lot of work and a lot of people are involved to organise the festival. The organisers do their absolute best to take care of you at the festival. We are also thankful for the opportunity to be at the land and place at Holma. A lot of students and teachers at the school let us use their “classroom”, we hope and wish all visitors to respect to let the berries, fruits and vegetables be where they are. The harvest starts the week after the festival. This is how we work with the People Care ethic:
- Say hallo to a stranger and meet people with a smile
- Be helpful
- Be a Co-creator of the festival
Fair Share
To organise a festival means to share the workload and help each other. We have the organisers, volunteers, workshop holders, guests and visitors. The organisers and volunteers do their absolute best to do the festival a great memory and share of knowledge about permaculture. How we work with the Fair Share ethic:
- Share the workload equally
- If there is food left at one meal, we sell it with a discount the next meal
Principles of the festival
We want to present our principles for the festival. These will help us and you to create an atmosphere that we want during the days.
- Bring your bike – travel climate smart and at same time join the “Bicycle kitchen” at the festival. Learn how you fix your bike and take care of it in the best way.
- Say hallo to a stranger and meet people with a smile– happy people that feel they belong to permaculture creates a great festival together.
- Be a part of the solution – things will happen and if there is a problem we find a solution.
- Bring your own eating tools – things will save us time and we use less water then if we use the dishwasher.
- Be a co-creator – if you feel that there is a workshop missing at the festival, there is an optional workshop where you, together with others, can create your own workshop.
- Leave the place in better condition – that´s why we have a limit of 250 people and we also need your help to keep the festival clean and tidy.
Program
The program for the festival is going to be set step by step all the way up to the start of the festival. We want to do a festival from the “roots and up”. Therefore, we have asked members of Permaculture Skåne, visitors at the Holma Folkhögskola “Open House”, permaculturists working on their diploma and PDC holders about topics for our workshops.
We also want to leave space for co-creating workshops, we have an “open stage” every evening and we also want to have breaks long enough for you to get to know new people and build your network during the festival.
The organisers have the ambition to have up to five workshops during every set of workshops.
Please note that we organise the workshops both outside and indoors. You might need clothes depending on the weather.
“Building Bridges”
The permaculture movement in Sweden try to co-operate with associations close to our values and activities. During the festival we are working together with the agroforestry project “Mellan raderna – small scale agroforestry for sustainable foodproduction and preparedness” that is financed by EU and Leader Skåne Mitt Nordväst.

Festival workshops
We have asked people about topics to have at the festiva and these are some of the ideas that we work with:
- Biochar
- Building a sundryer
- Perennial food systems (together with the agroforestry project “Mellan raderna”)
- Bioregions and permaculture
- Composttoilet
- Permaculture for children
- Co-creating workshops on site
- Music and dance
- Agroforestry (together with agroforestry project “Mellan raderna”
- And a lot more
We are updating the facebook group (“The Nordic Permaculture Festival”) and website with more details.
If you are interested to hold a workshop please send an email to: styrelsen@permakulturiskane.se
We want you to send a presentation of yourself, your workshop and how you connect this to permaculture. We also want you to have at minimum a PDC. Please note, that the organisers might need to say no to workshop holders. We aim to have a diversity of workshop holders and topics from all the Nordic countries.
